Today I brought in a bag of beans for our class to count. After some discussion we came up with a plan to count all of these beans. We decided that each person should be in charge of counting a handful of beans. After doing this, each pod of desks added up their total number of beans for their group. They wrote this onto a document that I sent them. Finally we slowly added up all of these numbers. The total number of beans is found below. It was great to see all the different ways that the students counted their beans.
