Making Words
Each week the students will be working with partner on making words. They are given letters that spell a large word or even a phrase. Using these letters they are asked to make as many words as they possibly can. Eventually a few groups of students share words they created with the whole class. Finally we figure out what all the letters spell together. Today a couple of groups asked the class to spell ate or stare. They thought they were tricky, because you could also spell the homonym for each of these words with the letters they were given (stair/stare and ate/eight). All the letters together spelled "Third Grade Students."
